Having just signed a lease on ‘a flexible white box’ on McCauley Street in Alexandria, Wootton wants both the business events industry and artists and creatives to use the space, with commercial use by the former enabling use by the latter.
“I have spent more than thirty years in the event industry, and I kept coming back to this idea of a space that was neither a ballroom nor a boardroom,” said Wootton.
“INTERLUDE is the space between. Clients are welcome, collaborators are encouraged and I would love to know what you would do in the space.”
INTERLUDE’s main event space measures 14.5m by 7.9m and has a 5.7m ceiling. There is also a courtyard and an arrival space.
Wootton founded AV1 in 2004 but stepped back from the day-to-day running of the business in 2024, handing over the reins of the company to Nigel Mintern, who had been with the business for more than 13 years before becoming its managing director.
Invite-only previews of INTERLUDE will take place on November 12 and 13.
