There have been a trio of hotel openings across Australia in the last week.

Brady Group opens another hotel in Melbourne

Melbourne’s hotel stock has got yet another boost from the opening of Brady Hotel Elizabeth St, in the northeastern part of Melbourne’s CBD.

The 211-room hotel at 278 Little Lonsdale Street rises 31 floors and has a level eight lobby. Something of a rarity amongst city centre hotels, all rooms have opening windows.

“This is a hotel built around what travellers actually use: a good bed, a clean and contemporary room, fast Wi-Fi, fresh air, space to work and a team who knows the city,” said Brady Group’s general manager of hotels and hospitality, Robert Moore.

“We are not interested in scripted hospitality or pushing things guests do not need. Our team can point you towards the right coffee, restaurant, tram or quiet corner, then make sure the essentials work when you come back.”

It is the sixth hotel for Brady Group in Melbourne, bringing their inventory in the city to more than 1,000 rooms.

“We remain enormously confident in Melbourne and the future of its visitor economy, and we look forward to continuing to invest in the city for many years to come,” said Brady Group managing director Tony Brady.

Little National opens in Adelaide

The compact Little National brand has opened a hotel in a fourth Australian city, with the debut of the 237-room Little National Adelaide.

The 21-storey hotel is located directly across the road from Adelaide Convention Centre, providing another option for delegate accommodation for those attending events at the venue.

Known for its compact design, the Adelaide property also includes 48 one- and two-bedroom suites as well as the first penthouses in a Little National Hotel.

The $100 million property, designed by Bates Smart, also offers two small meeting spaces, with the larger of the two able to host 36 people theatre style, while the other can do boardroom-style meetings for 12.

Mercure Perth Aurea Kings Park

Accor opens third Mercure in Western Australia

Australia’s largest hotel operator has opened Mercure Perth Aurea Kings Park, following the rebrand of Aurea Hotel Perth Kings Park.

The 70-room hotel had a multi-million-dollar renovation in 2023.

“Joining the Accor family through the Mercure brand marks an important milestone for Capital Bay Management,” said Peow Lim, general manager at Capital Bay Management, which owns the hotel.

“With its prime position between Kings Park and the Swan River, the hotel offers guests a unique sense of space and connectivity to the Perth CBD.

“Partnering with Accor allows us to introduce the property to a broader audience of leisure and corporate travellers, while building on the strong foundation already established with The Sebel West Perth.”
