The 143-room hotel will be part of a $500 million-plus mixed-use development by Reve Group, known as Nova Rêve, on a 10,000m2 site in close proximity to Castle Hill Metro station and the Castle Towers shopping centre.
The hotel will offer 400m2 of event space, which can split into several smaller spaces, alongside opportunities for exclusive use of the rooftop restaurant and bar by event groups. The rooftop will also have a private dining room for small events.
Novotel Sydney Castle Hill will have a fitness centre and pool, while the broader development will feature 253 apartments as well as significant open space.
“Developments like this [are] exactly what the city needs,” said Accor Pacific’s COO, Adrian Williams, at a press conference for the new hotel today.
Williams said that in order for NSW to achieve its $91 billion visitor economy target for 2035, including substantial growth in the state’s hotel inventory, “we need developments like Castle Hill, we need developers like Reve Group to have vision and ambition”.
Williams also said mixed-use developments were the future for hotel development.
“Having residential as mixed use with the hotel gives it just a different feel,” said Williams.
“From our perspective the travel experience then becomes something a little bit special, a little bit more unique because it’s got that residential feel about it.”
He also highlighted the importance of the hotel’s proximity to the Metro, which connects Castle Hill to the centre of Sydney’s CBD in 35 minutes.
“What that does is open up a raft of opportunities out in the west,” said Williams.
“Growth in the western corridor, growth into the Metro areas is a strategic opportunity for us.”
He said the Metro “bring[s] into play the rest of Sydney” for the Novotel at Castle Hill.
Williams pointed to the “better than expected” results from the recent opening of Novotel Cabravale in Sydney’s southwest as evidence of demand for hotels outside the city centre.
“That shows the strength in the Sydney metro area,” he said.
“People want to be in Sydney…and it makes sense for us to expand into metro areas, particularly in the west where it is strong, where there is more demand and more focus.
“Western Sydney Airport is just one of those things that puts a spotlight on the west.
“We’ve got hotels in Parramatta and Penrith and Warwick Farm. They are all doing really well.
“That gives us a lot of confidence that opening up in Castle Hill will be another successful opening,” said Williams.
