Shenzhen Airlines will fly out of Sydney Airport from December 14, 2026, operating four services each week between Sydney and Shenzhen in China.
Shenzhen Airlines’ flights will provide 130,000 seats each year, with 100,000 passengers expected to be carried annually.
“China remains one of Sydney Airport’s most important international markets, with Chinese nationals the airport’s second-largest international traveller group up 13.9 per cent year-on-year,” said Sydney Airport CEO, Scott Charlton.
“This new route will provide passengers with direct access to one of China’s most dynamic cities, as well as onward connections across Shenzhen Airlines’ extensive domestic and international network across Asia and Europe.”
Shenzhen is China’s third largest city with a population of more than 17 million.
“This new route will provide greater choice and convenience for travellers between Shenzhen and Sydney, while supporting stronger tourism, trade and cultural links between China and Australia,” said Shenzhen Airlines’ chair, Li Shuxing.
“Sydney is an important destination for our international network, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board and working closely with Sydney Airport to make this service a success.”
Shenzhen Airlines is the 10th Chinese carrier to fly out of Sydney Airport.
Meanwhile, EgyptAir plans to connect Sydney, Singapore and Egypt next year, announcing the new service at El Alamein Air Show in Egypt this week.
The route is still subject to regulatory approval, with more details of of flights yet to be revealed.
“This is a major milestone for our international network, delivering greater choice for passengers and unlocking new opportunities for tourism, trade and cultural links between Australia, Egypt and the broader region,” said Charlton.
“Egypt is the largest unserved African market for Australian travellers, and a Sydney service by EgyptAir is a big step forward in improving connectivity between Australia and Egypt.
“We look forward to working with EgyptAir as it progresses its plans for Sydney.”
These two latest airline commitments to Sydney Airport will take the airport’s number of operating airlines to a record 55.
