Fiji Airways will operate three flights a week between Western Sydney International Airport and Nadi in Fiji from March 2027, with the first service taking off on March 19.
Services will operate on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays on Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which have 162 economy seats and eight in business class.
“This new route is a natural next step for us, and a chance to bring our award-winning service and the warmth Fiji is known for to one of the fastest-growing regions in the country,” said Fiji Airways CEO, Paul Scurrah.
“Western Sydney is also home to a significant Fijian and Pacific Islander community, so for us this is about more than tourism, it’s about making it easier for our own people to stay connected to family and home.
“We look forward to welcoming even more Australians onboard the world’s happiest airline.”
WSI CEO Simon Hickey noted the flight times for the Fiji Airway services would work well for different traveller types.
“The Fiji Airways services taking off from March next year will depart Western Sydney International at 11.55pm and arrive at Nadi just before 5am – meaning business travellers can make valuable productivity gains, while holiday makers can make the most of long weekend opportunities and swift connections for boat and ferry services to kick off their getaways,” said Hickey.
“Last year alone, more than 400,000 passengers travelled between New South Wales and Fiji, demonstrating the immense popularity of the warm, welcoming leisure destination and the more than 300 islands visitors can explore.”
Fiji also offers significant – and growing – business events infrastructure, including plenty of internationally branded hotels with increasing meeting space, so flights to Nadi from Western Sydney will make for an easier journey for Western Sydney delegates attending events in Fiji.
