John O’Sullivan appointed TEQ chair
Former managing director of Tourism Australia, John O’Sullivan, is the new chair of Tourism and Events Queensland.
Now CEO of Experience Co, O’Sullivan is also chair of the Tourism Tropical North Queensland board and a commissioner for Tourism Western Australia, as well as being a director for Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority in the United Arab Emirates, which is headed up by another former Tourism Australia MD, Phillipa Harrison.
O’Sullivan replaces Grant Hunt AM as TEQ chair, with Hunt having helmed the board for the past three years.
O’Sullivan said he was “feeling really honoured” to have been selected to lead the TEQ board.
New CEO for Sunshine Coast Airport
Tony Edmondstone has been chosen as Sunshine Coast Airport’s next CEO.
Set to join the organisation in 2027, Edmondstone will move over from Airport Development Group, operator of Darwin and Alice Springs Airports, where he has been CEO for more than six and a half years.
Prior to Airport Development Group, Edmondstone worked in the mining, resources and energy sectors for nearly two decades.
“Tony is a highly accomplished executive with significant experience leading complex organisations, delivering major infrastructure projects and driving strategic growth,” said Sunshine Coast Airport chair David Ryan.
“The airport is entering an exciting period with the $170 million terminal redevelopment progressing, the gateway precinct property development moving forward and strong opportunities for continued aviation growth.
“Tony’s appointment reflects the board’s focus on securing a leader with the experience to guide both the airport’s ongoing aviation growth and the delivery of its significant commercial and precinct development opportunities.”
The forthcoming change in leadership at the airport follows the resignation of current CEO Chris Mills, who is the incoming leader of Hamilton Island. Mills will remain with the airport until November.
