Both midscale hotels are expected to open in 2027, with the Mantra Hamilton Pembroke Street to have 52 rooms and the Mantra Hamilton Karewa Place to have 40 rooms.
The new hotel signings are part of an extended deal with Sanjil Mistry and Pienaar Piso from Mistry Centre Ltd, with the partnership also yielding the 191-room Pullman Hamilton, which was announced in 2024 but has not yet opened.
“Mantra is one of the most trusted and recognised hotel brands in the Pacific, and these signings represent an exciting step in its continued expansion across New Zealand,” said Accor Pacific’s chief operating officer, Adrian Williams.
“Hamilton is a city with strong momentum, growing visitor demand and an increasingly diverse travel market.
“By introducing two new Mantra hotels alongside the future Pullman Hamilton, we are creating a stronger, more complete accommodation offering for the city, while deepening our valued partnership with Mistry Centre.”
Hamilton is New Zealand’s fourth largest city, located between Rotorua and Auckland and a little under an hour from iconic New Zealand attraction Hobbiton.
“Hamilton has so much to offer, from world-class attractions, major events and sporting fixtures to outstanding hospitality and visitor experiences,” said Hamilton’s Mayor, Tim Macindoe.
“We’re also the gateway to the wider Waikato region and all the incredible destinations it has to offer.
“As more people discover what makes our city and region such a great place to visit, demand for quality accommodation continues to grow.
“That’s why welcoming a brand with a strong presence across the Oceania and Asia Pacific region is such great news for Hamilton.
“Not only will it address the need for a wider range of accommodation options in two key parts of the city, it will also strengthen our reputation as a tourist hotspot, while complementing the city’s expanding accommodation offering.”
One of the hotels’ developers, Pienaar Piso, said the city was “entering a really exciting new chapter”.
“We’re seeing strong population growth, increased business investment and major improvements in infrastructure and connectivity.
“All of those factors are creating real confidence in the city and making it an attractive place to invest.
“As Hamilton continues to grow, so does the need for high-quality accommodation that caters to a wide range of travellers, whether they’re here for business, events, tourism or leisure.
“These new hotels aren’t just about adding more rooms; they’re about helping shape Hamilton into a more vibrant, sophisticated city and supporting the next stage of its growth.”
