The business events industry association has introduced two different kinds of associate memberships for in-house planners and students.
Membership for in-house planners is priced at just $150 and is available to event planners who work for associations, not-for-profits and across the corporate sector.
This membership type could help the association grow representation from what could be considered one of the most valuable and elusive segments of the events industry – corporate organisers who command big event budgets and who hold the reins of some of Australia’s largest corporate events.
This kind of membership could also help to bring the business events ecosystem together more cohesively by providing a lower barrier to entry for those considered to be outside of the absolute core of the industry to come into the fold of the sector’s community.
Student membership is priced at $60 and provides a potentially good in-road to bring some younger talent into the association and highlight career paths available to them.
“The new Associate Membership categories help us cater to colleagues in all areas of business events, by creating a more inclusive and practical pathway,” said ABEA CEO Melissa Brown.
“We warmly welcome students and in-house planners and other event staff to connect with the industry, build capability, take part in our education and join a national community that supports professional growth.
“We need many hands to create the future we all desire for our sector.”
