The event management graduate program is a partnership with the University of Technology Sydney and began last year with a singular place, taken by Emily Howe, who graduated from UTS with a Bachelor of Management in Events in 2024.
In 2026, ICC Sydney has taken on two graduates for the program – Nick Broekhuis and Mya Lovelock – both of whom completed their studies at UTS in 2025.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join ICC Sydney through this graduate program,” said Broekhuis.
“Being able to apply what I’ve learned at UTS in a world‑class venue is an exciting next step in my career.
“I’m looking forward to learning from industry professionals and gaining hands‑on experience across the business that will set me up for the future.”
The pair will now embark on a two-year paid graduate program which will see them work across various departments within the convention centre, including business development, event planning and event delivery.
“Being selected for the program is a real honour, and I’m thrilled to begin my journey with ICC Sydney,” said Lovelock.
“It’s the perfect environment to bring my studies to life and grow as an event professional. I can’t wait to immerse myself in different parts of the organisation and build the skills and confidence that will shape my career over the next two years.”
ICC Sydney’s CEO, Adam Mather-Brown, said the venue is “deeply committed to attracting, nurturing and developing the future leaders of our business events industry”.
“By expanding our Event Management Graduate Program this year, we’re doubling our investment in emerging talent and strengthening the pipeline of skilled, holistic event professionals who will shape our sector’s future.
“This partnership with University of Technology Sydney continues to play an important role in building meaningful career pathways and future‑proofing our industry.
“Welcoming two graduates into the program this year allows us to broaden the impact of on‑the‑job learning and provide even more opportunities for the next generation to gain the practical experience that is so essential in event management.”
