Hyatt makes big impact on Kuala Lumpur hospitality scene
When Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur opens in late August, it will not only grow Hyatt’s brand presence in the Malaysian capital but also literally perch it at the top.

Park Hyatt’s 252 luxurious guestrooms and suites stretch from levels 100 to 118 of Merdeka 118, the tallest skyscraper in Asia Pacific, and second tallest in the world at 678.9m to its spire tip.

The panoramic views complement the hotel’s sophisticated interiors influenced by Malaysia’s cultural heritage.

Event spaces on level 98 are among the highest in the world, designed to provide the perfect setting for exceptional event experiences – six Executive Salons with breathtaking views, natural daylight, pre-function areas and show kitchens.

Individual Salons take from 18 to 42 pax in classroom configuration, 56 to 84 theatre-style or 30 to 50 for banquets. For larger events, three salons can be combined to hold 170 pax in theatre or 130 in banquet seating.

Reception and restaurants are on level 75, while there is a wellness sanctuary and indoor swimming pool on level 99.

“We look forward to redefining the art of gatherings for discerning delegates seeking a refined experience and thoughtful service,” said Sheeren Ab Karim, director of sales and marketing for Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.

“We welcome key incentive and corporate markets not only within Malaysia but also across Asia, Oceania and beyond.”

The hotel has received bookings and enquiries for various types of small meetings to medium-sized events from different sectors in both local and international markets.

There’s more in store in terms of Hyatt openings in the city for 2025.

Come September, Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown will open with 306 guest rooms and suites. It is opposite Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre, a major venue for international business events.

Hyatt Regency offers 16 meeting spaces totalling 2,510m2 across three floors. These include a three-in-one grand ballroom, versatile meeting rooms that can be combined or divided for breakout sessions and four meeting rooms featuring an outdoor patio with the option of full buyout, including the izakaya (bar).

Meanwhile, the 312-room Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur, which opened last December, offers versatile event set-ups in two multipurpose venues, each divisible into two smaller rooms. These spaces enjoy natural daylight, have generous foyer space, zesty graffiti-mural walls and cooking stations.

At full size, each SunRoom holds 100 pax theatre-style or 70 to 80 for banquets. Individual capacities range from boardroom for 12 pax; 16 to 40 in theatre seating; and 20 to 40 pax for banquets.

For private evening events, @21 Rooftop Bar offers indoor and outdoor seating options for up to 120 guests.

With seven hotels in metropolitan Kuala Lumpur, Hyatt Hotels has a formidable presence in the federal territory.

Marriott International has also been adding to Kuala Lumpur’s hotel stock this year.

Its Moxy Kuala Lumpur Chinatown opened this April with 320 rooms and suites and five meeting rooms of varying sizes.

Seating capacities range from as few as 10 in boardroom or banquet layout to 150 pax theatre-style in the largest room. After-hours drinks may be downed at the rooftop bar.
