Incentive leader joins ABEA board
The Australian Business Events Association (ABEA) has announced a new board member and a raft of new committee chairs.

Colette Baini, founder and CEO of The Conference Room and Australia Conferences & Incentives, has joined the ABEA board, following several already announced departures from the association’s board.

Baini’s appointment is significant on a number of fronts – she introduces new incentive representation to the board and she’s one of just two event buyers amongst the association’s directors. While working with major corporate brands, Baini also brings a small business perspective to the board.

Baini has previously helmed the local chapter of the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) and along with both her companies, she is award-winning in the incentive space.

“We warmly welcome Colette Baini to the ABEA Board,” said ABEA’s chair, Peter King.

“She represents an important perspective of our industry. Colette is very well regarded and brings enormous expertise, experience and passion.

“As we celebrate our second anniversary, ABEA continues to enjoy strong interest and active participation from all sectors of the industry.

“The calibre of talent across our chapters, pillars and special interest groups is truly impressive, and many industry professionals are eager to contribute their time to the ongoing development of our industry.”

There have been several other recent changes to committee chairs at the association.

Founder of GEL Events, Damien Gaffney, has become chair of the combined supplier pillar and the WH&S and risk management special interest groups, which were merged after member feedback.

Meanwhile, Moreton Hire’s Dan Morahan is now chair of the Queensland chapter, Hannah Von Bibra from Melbourne Showgrounds and the Royal Melbourne Show has taken up the Victorian chair position and Fusion Exhibitions’ Jessie Rayson is the new Northern Territory chair.

In the special interest groups, ICC Sydney’s Toni McAllister is now heading up the education, skills and pathways group, AV1’s Andrew Crook is the emerging leaders chair and ICC Sydney’s Jessica Zicker is at the helm of the sustainability group.
