Melbourne Showgrounds is hosting both the business sessions and gala dinners for Amway China Leadership Seminar with six waves of 2,500 delegates travelling from China during April. The venue is using over 35,000m2 of space to host Amway China’s delegates.
To win the business, the showgrounds hosted several site visits for Amway, including hosting the organisation at the Royal Melbourne Show last year.
“The selection of Melbourne Showgrounds as the anchor venue for these key events was a highly competitive process and the team is immensely proud to have been chosen to play such a pivotal role in this landmark event,” said the venue’s executive general manager of experience and commercial, Hannah von Bibra.
“Melbourne Showgrounds’ proven event curation capabilities, most notably demonstrated through the successful delivery of the annual Melbourne Royal Show, were a significant factor in the decision.”
Caterer Dean & McPherson and production company Encore have also scored a significant slice of the Amway action, working with the Melbourne Showgrounds to help deliver the experience there.
Over the six waves, 11,000 crayfish and 4.5 tonnes of marble score 9 porterhouse steak will be served to Amway delegates at Melbourne Showgrounds.
Aside from their time at Melbourne Showgrounds, the 16,000-plus Amway delegates will generate 32,000 room nights staying at eight hotels around Melbourne, eat at 50 restaurants in Melbourne and Victoria and visit various attractions, from the Twelve Apostles to Phillip Island and the National Gallery of Victoria.
This Amway incentive, a 30th birthday celebration of Amway China, is expected to inject $100 million into Victoria’s economy.
It’s not only Victoria that is benefiting from Amway’s Australian visit.
During April, around 400 Amway delegates will travel to Tasmania, as part of a trip extension.
Delegates will stay at The Tasman, named as one of the 50 best hotels in the world last year, sample Hobart’s culinary scene and be immersed in Tasmania’s landscape and seascape, catching and preparing fresh seafood on custom charters with Tasmanian Seafood Adventures and going sightseeing with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys.
“Tasmania is thrilled to welcome Amway China to indulge in all the island has to offer,” said Business Events Tasmania CEO, Marnie Craig.
“Our island offers something rare, space to think clearly and connect deeply.”
