The venue hosted 507 events over the year to June 30, 2024, which delivered 1.2 million visitors to the precinct alongside an estimated spend of $718 million driven by event attendance.
While the number of events was only marginally higher, the rest of the figures are a significant step up from the previous financial year, in which one million visitors to 500 events delivered a spend of $600 million.
However, the latest results are still considerably down compared to the centre’s performance pre-pandemic.
In the 2018-2019 financial year, the venue hosted 671 events for 1.4 million visitors who spent $896 million in the local economy.
ICC Sydney’s results follow a broader trend across the business events ecosystem and broader visitor economy, in which, despite lockdowns seeming a distance memory, recovery to the highs of last decade are still ahead.
As recovery continues, other results demonstrate the strength of the ICC Sydney offering, with client satisfaction remaining at 99 per cent and delegate satisfaction up two points to 98 per cent compared to the previous year. For staff, the employee engagement score is also up three points to 86 per cent.
The centre also almost doubled activations of its Legacy Program, generated 165,000 First Nations cultural impressions and spent $13 million with food and beverage producers within the state.
“Our laser focus on delivering on the needs of our customers results in the success of their events, and so it is with great pride that we report 99 per cent client satisfaction and 98 per cent delegate satisfaction for the period,” said ICC Sydney CEO Adam Mather-Brown.
“We are equally proud to collaborate with our customers, through our Legacy Program, to see our goals to reduce our environmental impact and positive social impact amplified throughout the year – all of which contribute to our ability to make a difference for the broader NSW community.”
Of the 507 events, 25 were international conventions, 81 were national events, 62 were exhibitions and 99 were live entertainment events.
The centre exceeded both its revenue and profit targets for the year.
