Strong business events growth as Club Med promotes Julie Voultepsis
Following what it has called “exponential growth”, Club Med has promoted Julie Voultepsis to the new role of MICE manager for the Pacific.

Voultepsis is a long-time staffer at Club Med, having joined the business in 2000 in Gauteng, South Africa.

She joined the Australian team in a business events role in March 2020.

As well as offering all-inclusive holidays, Club Med also offers options for business events, including their “rent a resort” buyouts.

Due to robust growth, Club Med has split its trade and business events divisions, with each section to operate independently.

As a result of the split, the former head of sales and MICE, Lisa Bacon, has moved to a head of trade sales role.

“The Club Med Pacific market has witnessed sensational growth following the travel rebound,” said Club Med Pacific’s general manager, Michelle Davies.

“We are anticipating an increase in sales of 43 per cent for this year compared to 2019, with business volume for our MICE sector up 30 per cent for [the] year since 2019, an outstanding reflection of the tremendous stabilisation and growth within our market.

“Following our success, it is evident we’ve outgrown the rebound stage and are ready for the next challenge.

“To help us meet our ambitious targets thanks to increased capacity in the coming years, we now have a wonderful opportunity to provide dedicated resource to the trade and MICE sector of the business.

“Mentored by Lisa for almost three years at Club Med, Julie has shown an eagerness to develop alongside huge potential and is the perfect fit to take on the responsibility of 2.9M euros [more than AU$4.8] worth of business as our MICE manager.

“Lisa has been instrumental in the success of our MICE sector, and we can’t wait to watch her continue to succeed in leading our sales strategy with our valued travel agent partners, a fundamental aspect of our business.”

Voultepsis said she was “honoured and excited” to take on her new role.

“Having been with Club Med for over 20 years, I have a strong passion and belief in the product and the company’s commitment to providing unparalleled experiences and believe it is unmatched in the industry.

“When I was approached for the role, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to take on this new challenge, focus on innovation, client satisfaction and expand the portfolio of offerings across Club Med’s global resorts while pushing the boundaries on what we can achieve together as a team.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside our very talented team in creating unforgettable experiences and delivering exceptional value to our current and prospectus clients.”

One of Voultepsis’ first tasks will be to bring in a new business events account manager.

While Club Med doesn’t have any properties in Australia or the Pacific, it has more than 60 resorts across Asia, Europe, Africa, America and the Caribbean.
