Furama Darling Harbour will open on July 1, 2024, taking over what was the Holiday Inn Darling Harbour.
Furama Hotels International has actually owned the 370-room hotel for more than 20 years, but never operated it under its own brand.
The Singapore-based hotel group already manages 40 hotels, villas and resorts across Asia Pacific, including in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Bali, in addition to its two Singapore properties.
As a mid-range hotel located 400m from ICC Sydney, the hotel will continue to provide a solid option for delegates and exhibitors attending events at the convention centre.
“We are very excited to introduce the Furama brand to Australia for the first time,” said Furama Darling Harbour hotel manager, Melvin Lim.
“As our inaugural address under our flagship four-star brand, the Furama Darling Harbour signals an exciting new chapter of expansion for the group in this region, as we look to bring our guests a fresh perspective and a renewed commitment in delivering exceptional hospitality experiences.”
The hotel will not close between operators but Furama is planning some upgrades for the property in 2025, including rejuvenating its lobby and dining spaces and introducing some technology changes such as mobile check-in and check-out, digital key access and mobile TV casting.
