128-seat Fairmont MGallery Auditorium open
Fairmont Resort was recently relaunched under Accor’s boutique MGallery label after an extensive refurbishment, with the latest development being the unveiling of a new 128-seat auditorium which was discovered and renovated during the works. With state-of-the-art AV, the tiered amphitheatre is perfect for a range of purposes including private movie screenings in a “gold class” setting, lectures, live shows and more. The new auditorium is fitted with state-of-the-art technology, and the cinema-style seating with folding desks makes it perfect for conferencing, corporate movie nights, lectures, workshops or even stage shows. Most successful December on record
The Cairns Convention Centre has ended 2012 on a record high, with more bid wins for the month than in any December since opening. Some of the bid wins include: the Tertiary Education Management Conference 2014 (800 delegates); the 2013 Australasian IMBA Summit (250 delegates); and the Community Legal Centres 2013 National Conference 2013 (500 delegates). Following on the back of announcements that Cairns will host the G20 Finance Ministers Meeting in 2014 and Corroboree, Tourism Australia’s mega familiarisation program from the UK and Europe in 2013, the centre is looking back on a very successful year of forward bookings. Some international events confirmed during the year include: 3rd World Congress on Larynx Cancer 2015 (1000 delegates); Advances in Neuroblastoma Research Conference 2016 (600 delegates); and the International Ethological Conference 2015 (800 delegates).
