In partnership with Melbourne developer Capital Alliance, TFE Hotels will open two hotels within the same $340 million mixed-use development in Docklands in 2026.
The development will also feature a 9,000m2 conference centre with seating for a 1,000 delegates, which will be situated on a sky bridge connecting TFE’s two accommodation towers and have panoramic views of Melbourne’s skyline.
TFE’s two new hotels will be a 200-key Collection by TFE hotel, yet to be named, and a 105-key A by Adina hotel, which combines apartment style accommodation with high-end hotel services.
Other Collection by TFE Hotels include The Calile in Brisbane and The Hotel Britomart in Auckland. TFE also opened its first two A by Adina properties in Sydney and Canberra last year.
Capital Alliance has spent eight years developing various pieces of land in Melbourne’s Docklands – including the building which now houses the Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands – and this latest project is the final investment in Docklands for the developer.
“As the saying goes, you save the best for last and these one-of-a-kind hotels will be uniquely different to other accommodation offerings in Melbourne,” said Capital Alliance CEO Mohan Du.
“Our partnership with TFE was born and galvanised during the uncertainty of the pandemic. It may sound cliche to say, but there are two things we’re certain of, developing a hotel is incredibly challenging and we have unparalleled confidence in our ability to deliver a world class establishment alongside TFE.”

From the TFE Hotels side, the brand believes it has found a “legacy maker” in Capital Alliance.
“Each of our one-of-a-kind Collection hotels has a distinct story and, together with A by Adina’s brand premise around hotel living, offer guest experiences that are unique to their neighbourhood,” said TFE Hotels Group COO, Chris Sedgwick.
“It’s therefore incredibly important to TFE and our brands that, when we are looking for opportunities to partner, we seek out legacy makers, who have a passion and a genuine connection to the places they operate in – we believe we’ve found that in Mo and Capital Alliance.
“We love that Mo had a vision for Melbourne’s burgeoning Docklands area and that he and the Capital Alliance team have spent the last decade investing in and realising that vision and we’re thrilled to partner with them on this next phase of development.”
Ground will be broken on the development on Pearl River Road early in 2023.
TFE Hotels also has another Collection by TFE property in the pipeline in the inner city Sydney suburb of Surry Hills, with the 102-room property at the end of Crown St set to open in 2024.
