HONG KONG Bob van den Oord is now the managing director of The Langham, Hong Kong, in addition to his role as vice-president of brands for Langham Hospitality Group.

He will continue to lead the repositioning of the property by establishing operational excellence, world-class brand management and innovative marketing initiatives.

Dutch-born Mr van den Oord has over 20 years of hospitality experience across North America, Europe and Asia, having held senior management positions for luxury hotels in the UK, France, Hong Kong and United States.

He started out at Langham Hospitality Group as a resident manager with the Le Meridien Boston in 1999, spending five years after as the managing director/general manager of Eaton Hotel in Hong Kong.

From 2008 to 2011, Mr van den Oord was promoted to vice president of sales and marketing and served as a core member of the Langham Group’s executive committee. In 2012, he was appointed vice president of brands (global) for Langham Hospitality Group and regional director of operations for Korea, Indo China and Thailand.

He replaces Duncan Palmer, who has resumed the role of managing director of The Langham, London.
