THAILAND The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has appointed Nopparat Maythaveekulchai as its new president to strengthen the public image of the bureau and attract large-sized events to Thailand.

He is tasked to implement the existing five-year strategy, the International Meetings and Conventions Industry Plan, 2012-2016, highlighting five policies emphasising the commitment between public and private sectors to produce practical results. The objective is to raise the Thai MICE industry to compete on a level playing field with international competitors, before stepping into the AEC in 2016.

“TCEB has foreseen that Thai MICE industry will multiply its value to 88,000 million baht in 2013, while numbers of MICE travellers could reach 940,000. However, the growth must be witnessed from increased revenue, side by side with the quality of facilities and service, as well as the conservation of natural resources and environment,” he said.

Mr Nopparat has more than 10 years of experience in organisation management, starting his career at TOT Public Company Limited (formerly the Telephone Organization of Thailand). He was most recently the executive vice-president of TOT Plc.
