Rydges Auckland in New Zealand has reopened following a refurbishment which took in both its guest rooms and its rooftop terrace event space.

The 267-room hotel has 12 conference and event spaces including the rooftop, which can host up to 150 people and looks out over the Auckland city centre and seamarks including Waitemata Harbour and Auckland Harbour Bridge.

“We are looking forward to welcoming guests back to Tāmaki Makaurau and sharing our refreshed, casual and modern style with them, as they visit from Aotearoa, Australia and further afield as borders continue to open up,” said Rydges Auckland general manager Vinicius Belotti.

Meanwhile in Rotorua, Rydges’ parent company EVENT Hospitality and Entertainment is taking over the operating contract for what was Holiday Inn Rotorua, with a refurbishment in the works before the property debuts as Rydges Rotorua.

The existing Rydges in Rotorua will transition to become part of the Independent Collection by Event.

“We are looking forward to bringing a fantastic new Rydges offering to Rotorua that can be enjoyed by locals, travelling Kiwis and international visitors alike,” said EVENT Hotels and Resorts general manager for New Zealand operations Simon White.

“Rotorua is such a special place and we are excited to once again partner with NZ Hotel Holdings to bring quality accommodation, food and beverage, and conferencing options to the area.”

The new Rydges Rotorua property will operate under the Rydges brand from July.

EVENT Hospitality and Entertainment operates Rydges Hotels across Australia and New Zealand, as well as those under the QT brand, including properties on the Gold Coast and Auckland. The company also operates the State Theatre in Sydney.
