Event organisers and conference producers can get more gender balance in 2021 speaker line-ups at conferences and events with the launch of the Women in Tourism Speaker Directory.

There’s no excuse for men-only on stage and this handy resource can help conference program planners get in touch with interesting, fresh new talent.

Developed by the Women in Tourism network, the directory includes a wide-range of experts who can run workshops, emcee and facilitate, deliver keynotes or participate in panel discussions. They are from every state and territory in Australia.

Co-founder of Women in Tourism, Holly Galbraith said tourism, events and hospitality often have mostly women in the audience and mostly men on stage. The directory currently has around 50 speakers listed.

“I knew the Women in Tourism (Australia) group had a whole bunch of really experienced talent. I see it when people respond to questions from other group members. I also know that we don’t all have a platform to share our smarts or our aspirations,” she said.

Check out the directory here, or, if you would like to be listed in the directory, you can submit your nomination.

Holly said the speaker directory is the most popular section of the new Women in Tourism website. Popular topics are tourism innovation, leadership, mindset, diversity in tourism, regional tourism and sustainability.
