Director at CIS Event Management Dee Nicholas has been busy, busy, busy during lockdown – learning new skills, having virtual catch ups and dreaming about all the things she’d like to do when isolation is over, which may or may not involve a lemon tart.

Have a read through what she’s been up to below.

What are the top 3 things you will do after lockdown?

There are so many things that I can’t wait to do after lockdown but two very important words spring to mind – MANI, PEDI!

I am counting down the moments to get my glad rags out (bye bye active-wear) and host an actual party with actual people (and a bottle of bubbles…or three) in our renovated house.

Night caps at Bistro Guillaume, overlooking our beautiful city while devouring the world’s greatest Lemon Tart.

On a serious note, can’t wait to get back to work doing what we do best, planning and delivering events for our gorgeous clients and to see our industry vibrant again.

What are your favourite things to do at home to keep you sane/happy?

I am proud to have perfected my “iso lasagne” over the last couple of months. Baking and taste testing has been an almost daily treat (hence the need to buy a Jenny Craig subscription).

I have become the Queen of Appliances, fixtures and fabrics after many hours spent styling my new home! My fur baby Sammy has made a wonderful assistant (and he has excellent taste in lounges).

Myself and some of my dear industry friends have been hosting virtual knock off drinks via House Party every Friday which provides many hours of entertainment (in addition to a few sore heads).

What new skills are you learning?

I have been getting the creative juices flowing during isolation and have enjoyed so many online courses – photography, writing and drawing are particular favourites. I am looking forward to using my new found creative skills to capture something other than the lounge room and kitchen.

I did try to get ‘Zen’ during lockdown with a meditation course (admittedly I only lasted 10 minutes on this one!). Definitely a work in progress.

I have bought my first ever mix master and am learning how to use it! Made my first cake in more 10 years for my husband’s birthday.
