Following the news that she’ll be stepping down as chief executive Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) at the year’s end, Joyce DiMascio has announced her next role: director of marketing and communications for Sydney-based hospitality group The Venues Collection.
The role will commence in January next year, and see Ms DiMasicio join the senior team as the group embarks upon an expansion of its portfolio.
The Venues Collection is headquartered in Barangaroo, and currently boasts seven venues within the Sydney area.
These include Campbell’s Stores in The Rocks, which recently underwent a $40 million refurbishment and offers six restaurants with a combined capacity of 5000; 12 Micron in Barangaroo, which has a private dining room and the newly-developed 300-pax Watermans Room; Athol Hall in Ashton Park, a heritage-listed venue framed by native bush which is ideal for smaller functions; Orso in Mosman, a venue with waterfront views which has a large room ideal for gala dinners; Cropley House in Baulkham Hills, a former boarding school which re-opened this year following a refurb and now offers an array of indoor and outdoor spaces; and Harrington Grove Venue and Harringtons Bar + Grill located in Harrington Park, which are replete with venue spaces overlooking the surrounding gardens.
On Ms DiMascio’s appointment, director of The Venues Collection Christopher Drivas said that her reputation as a leader in the events industry will be invaluable as the group enters into an expansion phase.
“Joyce’s strategic and technical expertise is outstanding – and her knowledge and relationships in business events, tourism, business community and government will be great assets.
“Over recent years, we have invested heavily in our venues and we are now investing in expanding our executive team to help drive growth of the business,” he said.
Ms DiMascio said she was excited about joining the Venues Collection and to work in a portfolio of events venues and restaurants in scenic locations across Sydney.
“My first love is hospitality – it’s in my DNA and I feel very privileged that my new position involves promoting an exquisite portfolio of events venues and restaurants located in beautiful locations around Sydney.
“Apart from organising hundreds of events, I have also reviewed restaurants for over 20 years, so I’m looking forward to telling the stories of the outstanding food and beverage experiences through the marketing of The Venues Collection in both Australian and international markets,” she said.
Joyce told micenet that The Venues Collection’s portfolio of properties is a national and international drawcard, particularly Campbell’s Stores with its quintessentially-Sydney location opposite the Sydney Opera House at Circular Quay. 12 Micron at Barangaroo also offers another iconic Sydney location – perhaps less known and with great potential for national and international clients.
