Big is beautiful, big is best, big is back. Back? Hyatt Regency Sydney didn’t shut up shop or go anywhere.

It’s one of Australia’s largest hotels (888 rooms and 22 event spaces) and certainly didn’t go quietly into hibernation or retirement during 2020, the horror year.

Whilst it was not part of the international quarantine program, the hotel and its events venues were open throughout last year and getting down to the business of doing business.

‘Adapt’ and ’innovate’ could well be the hotel’s catchwords as it quietly and impressively successfully delivered more than 300 events in the past six months alone – quite a feat given the turbulent and ‘unprecedented’ year that needed to be navigated seamlessly.

Events boasting success here during these months include business lunches; award ceremonies; hybrid conferences and top shelf weddings.

Room to move

Hyatt Regency Sydney has the privilege of occupying the splendid location in the CBD opposite and overlooking buzzy Darling Harbour. And the views from many of the rooms and suites offer stunning views over a hub of maritime activity and twinkling night skies that is Sydney’s gift to you.

With less activity in the hotel during the height of COVID-19, Hyatt Regency Sydney got to work on extensive renovations of many of the rooms. Doors open now to stunning, elegant rooms and suites. Décor is cool and soft and with quirky details to catch the eye. There is something timeless about having a ‘real’ clock beside the bed.

The revamp of 649 rooms and 17 suites into luxe, nautically inspired habitats is the icing on the cake for guests or delegates after experiencing the space and facilities the hotel offers for meetings and grand events.

The 3,700sqm of flexible meeting and event spaces (including two plllarless ballrooms with floor to ceiling – it’s all about the light! – windows and views of Darling Harbour) fit the bill for small gatherings, meetings, social events or large-scale conferences. In-house AV partner Encore is on hand to assist with hybrid and studio capabilities available.

And with short lead times being the new ‘norm’ for conferences and meetings now, Hyatt Regency Sydney can speedily adapt and get down to business – quick as a wink!

So go big, go best for your next event and put yourself in the capable hands of the pro team that will deliver a premium experience.

Bar scene – and not forgotten

This is where you head for the afternoon sundowner – Zephyr, the nautical themed rooftop bar looking over Darling Harbour, well towards the horizon. Groups can meet here for intimate cocktail parties – pre and post meetings. Classic cocktails and fine liquors and spirits mix with Sydney rock oysters and charcuterie boards are special catering offerings for big or small groups.

Downstairs, the Jackalberry cocktail bar and restaurant has a menu of exotic cocktails and wines plus an international lunch and dinner menu – meetings delegates can book the space out for social events.

Sailmaker Restaurant is a vast space and early morning breakfasts, breakout lunches or dinners for large groups can be comfortably catered for in the 272-seat waterfront restaurant.
