Hotel occupancy was at 88.45 per cent in Northern Tasmania in January, beating the pre-pandemic record by almost half a per cent.

According to Tasmanian Hospitality Association’s Hotel Occupancy Report for January, across the whole of Tasmania, hotel occupancy was at 83.16 per cent.

 “Our plan to market Tasmania as a premium destination, as well as investing in our vital leisure and business events sectors, is working and our tourism and hospitality industries continue to be world-leading,” said Tasmania’s minister for hospitality and events, Nic Street.

“Every dollar spent by visitors to Tasmania adds to our economy, especially in our regions, meaning more to reinvest into health, housing, education, and transformational infrastructure to set our State up for decades to come.

“The Rockliff Liberal Government will continue to do all we can to keep the momentum going and grow these vital industries even further.”

Visitor spend was at a record high in Tasmania for 2022, sitting at $3.5 billion.
