Last week hosted buyer applications opened for MEETINGS 2021, New Zealand’s annual business events showcase which will occur between June 2 and 3, 2021 in Auckland. In a positive sign for in-person events in 2021, Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA), the country’s industry body, has already started receiving registrations.
BEIA chief executive Lisa Hopkins commented: “We believe MEETINGS is the first event for the sector globally in 2021, after other key events have unfortunately had to cancel. Our timing will enable New Zealand’s business events industry to connect early with buyers who are focused on 2022 and beyond.”
Ahead of the event, Fernando Lonergan, senior director, Australia, BCD Meetings and Events, Asia Pacific said the organisation is already receiving customer enquiries for designing face-to-face programmes into lower risk domestic and international destinations.
“With this backdrop, MEETINGS in New Zealand presents a great opportunity for us to connect with our local partners and identify new suppliers that can help us amaze and protect our customers,” he said.
MEETINGS 2021 will operate under a hybrid event format, with hosted buyers having the option of attending virtually or in-person. Hosted buyer registrations will close on April 9, 2021.
