INDONESIA 50 employees from W Retreat & Spa Bali – Seminyak were recently involved in the reforestation of a mangroves forest in Suwung, planting 1000 kendeka trees with the support of the local mangrove forest management centre.

With W Bali located on the beachfront enclave of Seminyak, general manager Craig Seaward said the activity held an important meaning for the property as well as all communities within Bali.

Mangroves are important in providing coastal protection against waves, wind and water currents, and can reduce the loss of life and damage caused by tsunamis. Mangroves are able to absorb the first brunt of the impact and subsequently dissipate the energy as it passes through.
