In a truly innovative move Australian Technology Park transformed ideas into reality in an exclusive initiative to bring together the event industry’s most creative minds, and push the boundaries of what is possible.

Teaming up with Decorative Events and Exhibitions, they debuted a new era of event design and production with Event Inception: a VIP spectacular through which Australia’s leading suppliers showcased their talents, and inspired more than 250 of Sydney’s most influential event planners.

The Australian Technology Park’s unique industrial Exhibition Hall was the canvas for the August 20 event at which the latest trends were revealed in breathtaking fashion. Guests had the chance to see first hand the future of décor, lighting, technical support, entertainment, pyrotechnics, food, wine and styling provided by Event Inception’s collaborators.

Each step of the fully immersive experience was designed to impress and stimulate the five senses. Guests walked the fire-lined red carpet created by Howard and Sons Pyrotechnics to be greeted by the first act of the night from SMA productions – Miss Bird Sings – perched on a giant descending swing.

Demonstrating the versatility of the Exhibition Hall, not one, but three entirely different spaces were themed in extraordinary detail to create ‘Miss Antoinette’s Masquerade’, ‘Jungle Funk’, and

‘Future Lines Collective’ by the team at Decorative Events and Exhibitions. Pure Chica added to the decadence with their sleek powder room service, and gift packs from Molten Brown continued the pampering.

Guests enjoyed three distinct menus created by the three premium caterers available at the Australian Technology Park, Laissez-faire, Bayleaf and Fresh Catering who each applied their own culinary techniques, creative touches and signature tastes to their dishes. Each dining style was complemented by a wide range of wines by Angove Family Winemakers – the pièce de résistance being a smooth nip of XO brandy to tantalise taste buds and cement guests’ epicurean experience – all seamlessly delivered by staff from Clifford Wallace.

Further entertainment by The Rat Pack Reloaded and The Diamonds kept the energy up throughout the brief formalities, while AV1 demonstrated their legendary reliability in audio-visual, lighting and technical production ensuring everyone looked and sounded their best.

Australian Technology Park director of sales and marketing, Ruby Chronis, said the Event Inception team planned every moment of the guest’s sensory experience by weaving the creative event aspects with the high-level logistics required.

“Event Inception went beyond the norm of what is possible with events. More than a just another cocktail function, we wanted to build a platform for organisers to be able to see, touch and experience for themselves what the future of events might look like, as well as spark ideas and open up a dialogue between venue, suppliers and organisers,” Ms Chronis said.

Keith Wootton, managing director of Event Inception collaborator AV1 agreed the experience was a resounding success.

“AV1 was thrilled to be part of such a polished, high-end showcase to our industry. The level of enthusiasm amongst the Event Inception partners to produce something completely unique and the subsequent collaboration, provided guests with an absolutely world class event,” Mr Wootton said.

Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia CEO, Joyce DiMascio, was floored by the whole experience.

“Everywhere I looked there was something to absolutely dazzle me. This has really been a night about igniting all the senses and it’s been an absolute feast,” she said.
