The federal government’s $50 million Covid support package for business events is being rolled out with the progressive announcement, beginning this week, of “approved events”.

Seven events organised by Diversified Communication (DivCom) are among around 140 listed on the Federal Government Schedule of Approved Events. It includes a wide range of event types and industry sectors which will run from January through to November 2021.

David Longman, managing director of Diversified Communications said he was delighted that a number of their shows had been listed on the Schedule of Approved Events and that it underlined the significance of these events in the calendar for their respective industries.

He said live events are hugely important to the economy and community, in order to come together, trade, network and hear from industry thought leaders.

“We welcome the Business Events Grant Program, as a mechanism whereby our customers can apply to cover up to half their costs of participating at these events,” he said.

“We are now encouraging our customers to apply as soon as they can, to give themselves the best chance of receiving funding.”

DivCom events including AOG, Naturally Good, Security Exhibition & Conference, Integrate, foodpro, AWRE and Fine Food Australia have got through the first stage of the funding allocation process.

Participants including exhibitors at these events can now apply for funding support via the Austrade website as part of the Australian Business Events Grants Program.

A wide range of association conferences and trade and consumer exhibitions have made the eligibility list. The Business Events Grants program will support Australian businesses by providing grants between $10,000 and $250,000. Grant funding will cover up to 50 per cent of costs incurred in participating at pre-approved business to business events as buyers or sellers during the 2021 calendar year.

The Business Events Grants program is now open and will close on March 30, 2021. For further grant details, visit: https://www.austrade.gov.au/Australian/Tourism/Tourism-and-business/Grants/business-events-exhibitor-grants-program
