SOUTH KOREA Seoul’s Coex Convention and Exhibition Center has appointed Bo Kyung Byun as its new president and CEO after the end of predecessor Sung Won Hong’s three-year tenure.
Mr Byun aims to raise the international profile of Coex as well as heighten the venue’s sense of social responsibility and support of local industries.
Since 2011, he has contributed substantially to Korea’s global convention and exhibition industry and international relations through his role as CEO and president of the Seoul Business Agency. He was also previously heading some of Korea’s top information and technology corporations such as LG-IB, PC and KOLON Global.
Mr Byun was selected from a pool of close to 60 candidates and assessed on strengths such as international relations, leadership and related prior experience.
It is believed that his knowledge and experience is instrumental in facilitating the further development of Coex as a national and international events hub for global commerce and trade.
