The temporary Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island has already confirmed bookings for 2014 including confirmation that Reed Gift Fairs will stage the first event in February 2014, and a soon-to-be confirmed corporate luncheon for 1300 PAX has been pencilled in.
Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island will fill the void created when the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre (SCEC) closes down at the end of 2013 for a three-year rebuild. The good news for exhibiting companies is that the cost of exhibiting at Glebe Island will be capped at 2013 prices at the SCEC.
Recently appointed general manager of Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island, Malu Barrios, who opened the Darwin Convention Centre says this new facility is her next baby.
“[And] I hope that this one doesn’t give me labour pains,” she said.
To overcome any potential headaches for exhibitors, Ms Barrios, said exhibition organisers will have two or three days extra bump in time at the new site, and there would be additional transport services offered, including ferries, when exhibitions are being held.
“Within a few months, Glebe Island will be transformed into a wonderful facility that will come to life with a full calendar of events and exhibitions,” she said.
Construction has already begun with work on the foundation slab and early site works starting.
