Singapore – In its fifth year, the 2013 Singapore Experience Awards last month honoured outstanding individuals and organisations that exemplified holistic experience delivery in the tourism industry.

Spanning across four categories of Customer Service, Events, Experience, and Marketing & Media, the awards recognised 28 winners that demonstrated excellence in the creation and delivery of extraordinary experiences.

Capella Hotel secured the Best Hotel Experience award, while Marina Bay Sands clinched the recognition of Best Business Event Venue.

Bagging the Best Travel Experience award were Journeys and The Changi Museum’s “Changi WWIITM – A Changi Museum War Trail”, and Wildlife Reserves Singapore’s “Wild Discoverer Tour” at the Singapore Zoo.

The Awards also honoured four recipients under the Special Recognition and Outstanding Contribution categories.

Now-retired CEO of the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore Group, Robert Khoo, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism award, while CEO of Deliciae Hospitality Management, Olivier Bendel, took home Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year.

Founding member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Photonics Society, Dr Perry Shum, was recognised as Business Event Ambassador for his strong advocacy of the local MICE industry and his contributions in securing key global conferences.

Gardens by the Bay secured the Breakthrough Contribution to Tourism award for bringing a new level of innovation to Singapore’s innovative offerings, and cementing the destination’s positioning as a city in a garden.
