CHINA Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is opening an Element hotel in Suzhou Science and Technology Town (SSTT), marking the brand’s foray into Asia Pacific and the presence of Starwood’s entire brand portfolio in the region.
Element Suzhou, slated for completion in mid-2015, will be based in the eco-city located in the centre of Suzhou National New & Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, which is in the west of Suzhou and adjacent to Tai Lake.
Element Suzhou will be convenient for visitors due to a direct access to the Sunan Shuofang International Airport, high-speed rail network and expressways. As Suzhou is adjacent to Shanghai, it can also be reached via Hongqiao and Pudong Airports.
The property will feature 190 guestrooms featuring the signature Heavenly Bed and spa-inspired bathrooms. It will also offer approximately 1000 square metres of versatile meeting space and an indoor heated swimming pool.
The Element brand’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in its pursuit of LEED or “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” certification for high-performance buildings.
Since 2003 over 300 state-level research institutes, R&D organisations, tech-based innovative companies, training organisations and outsourcing and design companies have settled in SSTT.
Starwood vice-president for acquisitions and development in Greater China, Robert Zhang said, “The Element brand with its trailblazing eco-wise proposition, is a great fit with SSTT’s green concept. We expect this new property to become a flagship Element Hotel, resetting the bar on hotel innovation and sustainability in the region.”
