The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) was announced a winner in three categories at last night’s 2014 Victorian Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) Industry Awards. Attendance figures to this year’s Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME) increased by five per cent, according CAB audited figures released today by event organisers. In total, 4776 attendees, including 2574 international and domestic trade visitors, participated in the two-day show that took place in February. 488 hosted buyers from 19 different countries were in attendance, 40 per cent of whom were first-time visitors to AIME. Crown Resorts Limited today announced plans to develop a new five-star hotel and apartment complex in Melbourne. The proposed site, on Queensbridge Street, Southbank, is opposite the Crown Melbourne Integrated Resort and controlled by the Schiavello Group. Crown has agreed to an initial investment of $50 million to participate in the joint development of the project with Schiavello.
