The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) was announced a winner in three categories at last night’s 2014 Victorian Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) Industry Awards. MCEC was took out the award for Meeting Venue 500 delegates or more, Banqueting and Catering, and In-house AV Services (for the fifth consecutive year). The venue team that successfully delivered Australia’s largest health and development conference for Melbourne was recognised at the 2014 EEAA Awards for Excellence this month. The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) this week reported an impressive $246 million boost to the local economy from the 175 business events it secured in the 2013/2014 financial year, 32 per cent increase from the previous year.
