NEWS: Crown’s new Melbourne hotel

Crown Resorts Limited today announced plans to develop a new five-star hotel and apartment complex in Melbourne. The proposed site, on Queensbridge Street, Southbank, is opposite the Crown Melbourne Integrated Resort and controlled by the Schiavello Group. Crown has agreed to an initial investment of $50 million to participate in the joint development of the project with Schiavello. Tasmanian firm the Vos Group and tourism operator, Federal Group, are teaming up again to build a premium hotel development on Hobart’s waterfront, set to open in 2015. The Macquarie Wharf No. 1 redevelopment project will involve building a luxury hotel together with 3000 sqm of retail space incorporating restaurants, cafes, provedores and galleries. A 200-room signature hotel is set to grace the Auckland waterfront thanks to a newly formed partnership between council organisation, Waterfront Auckland, and Beijing developer, Fu Wah International Group. The Sheraton Melbourne officially opened its doors this week (March 31), signalling a return of the brand to the city after a nine year absence. The property is situated at the ‘Paris end’ of Melbourne’s Little Collins Street in the central business district and features 174 guest rooms, including 11 Terrace Suites. The hotel boasts six meeting rooms of varying sizes, comprising a total of more than 660 square metres on a dedicated, naturally lit conferencing floor.
