The Whitsundays’ Whitehaven Beach has again taken out the top gong as the South Pacific’s Best Beach in the 2015 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.
This marks the third consecutive year Whitehaven Beach was voted Australia’s Best Beach and this year also ranked among the Top 10 in the world, coming in at ninth place.
Whitsundays Marketing and Development Limited (WMDL) executive director, Jeff Aquilina, is delighted the region’s iconic beach remains a favourite.
“On behalf of the Whitsundays tourism industry, we are absolutely thrilled that Whitehaven Beach has taken out the top gong as the best beach in the South Pacific.
“It is a tribute to the stunning natural beauty of the Whitsundays and our local tourism operators who allow visitors to experience the exceptional beauty and magic of Whitehaven Beach and the Whitsunday Islands whilst keeping it clean and preserving this natural wonder at the same time.
“We have an array of amazing visitor experiences on offer here in the Whitsundays but feeling the soft silica sands below your feet on Whitehaven Beach and taking a dip in the crystal clear waters is certainly a ‘must do’,” Mr Aquilina said.
Nestled in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, the turquoise waters and pristine silica sand of iconic Whitehaven Beach stretch over seven kilometres along Whitsunday Island, the largest of the 74 islands in the Whitsundays.
