Australia’s largest hotel operator, Accor, today announced it has signed a management agreement with Goodman to brand and operate a five-star Pullman Sydney Airport hotel as part of a new AUD$100 million development project that will encompass extensive office and retail facilities.

Due to open in May 2016, the 229-room property will include a restaurant and bar, and conference facilities, and will be the first internationally branded five-star hotel in the international airport precinct.

Accor Pacific chief operating officer, Simon McGrath, said the project will be a key development for Sydney.

“The Sydney hotel market has been considerably constrained over the last two years with occupancy idling between 80-90 per cent, hence the urgency for new inventory to service the high corporate and leisure demand in the city.

“Airports are no longer considered transport hubs, they are transforming into complete entities where hotels, conference centres, retail and office spaces co-exist.

“Accor continues to lead as an airport hotel specialist and we are thrilled to partner with Goodman on this project which is a win for the economic growth of Sydney and our fourth airport announcement this year,” Mr McGrath, said.

Construction of the hotel development on O’Riordan Street, Mascot commenced this month (November).

Once operational, Pullman Sydney Airport will join Australia’s fastest growing five-star hotel network which has recently expanded to 13 hotels and resorts across nine locations. Pullman has established itself as the largest network of upscale hotels in the Asia Pacific with more than 45 hotels across the region and counting.
