A tropical depression currently moving south east of the eastern side of Fiji’s main island, Viti Levu, has not affected the archipelago’s main tourism areas.

The tropical depression which affected Fiji’s capital city, Suva, with sustained rain and wind gusts resulted in temporary flooding in some areas of the city last night. Flood warnings remain on the main island of Viti Levu, and officials say the high tide could cause extra problems.

The heavy rain and flooding have not affected the western division or islands where the majority of Fiji’s tourism industry is based, with all facilities, services and resorts operating as normal.
