The Exhibition and Events Association of Australasia 2013 Awards for Excellence were announced last week following its conference in Sydney with big winners including the Trevor Riddell President’s Award presented to Debbie Evans and Matt Pearce for service to the industry.

According to the EEAA, over the past few years the industry has been under enormous pressure due to the closure of the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. Debbie Evans has been a lead advisor in the industry’s representation work and sought to find solutions that would assist the whole industry.

Matt Pearce was also recognised for his contribution to the association for five years as its president. He played a major role in repositioning the EEAA and to setting it upon a course for the future.

The 2013 Young Achiever Award was presented to Domenic Le Roy of Van Den Berg Design Team. Domenic is operations manager and producer at the design company which specialises in exhibition design. He was nominated for his outstanding achievements.

The Best Australian Show Award went to – Good Food & Wine Show, Melbourne – Diversified Exhibition Australia. The Best New Zealand Show was awarded to BuildNZ | Designex – entered by XPO Exhibitions. Dog Lovers Show organised by Event Management International took out two awards – Best New Show and Best Consumer Show under 10,000M2.

EEAA chief executive, Joyce DiMascio, said the competition across all categories was vigorous and members realise the commercial benefits that flow to both winners and finalists from this “marquee of distinction”.
