Perth will host a Western Australian version of Informa Connect Australia’s Australian Hydrogen Conference in late 2022.

The Australian Hydron Conference (West) will be held at Crown Perth in November while there will also be an Australian Hydrogen Conference in Adelaide from May 31 to June 1.

The Perth conference is expected to attract 440 delegates and inject over half a million dollars into the Western Australian economy.

The state’s minister for the hydrogen industry, Alannah MacTiernan said WA was starting to be recognised around the world for its hydrogen energy potential.

“Since the state government’s Renewable Hydrogen Conference in 2018, a local renewable hydrogen industry is turning from vision to reality here in Western Australia,” she said.

“The Australian Hydrogen Conference will bring industry leaders to Perth to showcase our state’s enormous opportunities in this emerging industry, helping to keep WA centre-stage in the hydrogen economy.”

Business Events Perth CEO Gareth Martin said WA’s burgeoning hydrogen sector contributed to the state being chosen to host an iteration of the conference.

“Western Australia’s energy industry is moving towards more renewable energy sources, and as a result we’re making big strides in the field of hydrogen; in 2019, the WA Government launched the Renewable Hydrogen Strategy, which sets out the State’s approach to becoming a significant producer, exporter and user of renewable hydrogen energy.

“Bringing together the top experts in this field in Western Australia will lead to new innovations and emerging projects that will continue to strengthen WA’s commitment to transition into a sustainable energy state.”
