As Melbourne records another 13 cases, bringing the total number of local cases in the current outbreaks to 84, the state is waiting to hear from Premier Daniel Andrews on how long the lockdown will be extended by, after he flagged yesterday the current five-day lockdown would not end as scheduled at midnight tonight as the latest proverbial COVID-19 fire was not out yet.

Meanwhile in Adelaide, the state government has implemented heavy restrictions, but not a lockdown, after three locally acquired cases were discovered yesterday, two of which are believed to be close contacts of the initial case.

New restrictions in Adelaide from midnight last night include the closure of non-essential retail businesses, personal care businesses, gyms and indoor dining. Cinemas, galleries, live performance venues, zoos museums and other public entertainment venues have also be forced to closed. In a blow for the events industry, all events with COVID Management Plans have been cancelled. Restrictions are due to reviewed on Friday.
