Two of the latest hotel general manager appointments in Australia have bucked tradition by operators appointing women to the most senior role.

Sonia Lefevre has been appointed general manager of the newly rebranded The Langham, Sydney, formerly known as The Observatory Hotel, while in Adelaide the InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed Linda Collis GM of the Crowne Plaza Adelaide.

With 15 years of experience as a sales and marketing specialist for international luxury hotels, Ms Lefevre will play a pivotal role in leading The Langham, Sydney’s team to raise the hotel’s profile, drive sales and marketing initiatives and ensure the delivery of quality products and enchanting hospitality to guests.

Prior to joining The Langham Sydney, Ms Lefevre was the hotel manager of The Langham, Hong Kong for two years.

Crowne Plaza Adelaide new GM, Linda Collis, was most recently area director of sales and marketing, based at Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise, overseeing the sales and marketing functions for Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Vanuatu.
