Hobart’s hotel landscape is undergoing a substantial growth period. Crowne Plaza opened its doors in July, and Vibe Hotel Hobart will follow suit in late November. These hotels are soon to be joined by Australia’s first Mövenpick hotel, which will open mid-January 2021, and The Tasman, a Marriott Luxury Collection hotel, which will open in mid-2021. This will boost the city’s hotel offering by an additional 750 luxury rooms.
All hotels are situated in or within easy walking distance of the CBD and Hobart’s famous waterfront, with conferencing venues, offsite options and group experiences easily accessible. All properties draw on aspects of Tasmania’s history and culture through design, interiors and cuisine, resulting in a uniquely Tasmanian experience.
Business Events Tasmania (BET) CEO Marnie Craig has welcomed the new additions. “As industry confidence grows post-COVID, and groups plan to meet again in 2021, we’re seeing huge interest in these internationally regarded properties.
“New properties are always appealing to our market, but these high-end hotels come at a particularly opportune time as interest in Hobart for corporate and incentive travel groups is at an unprecedented high.
“The four new hotels add another layer to the Tasmanian business events experience and we look forward to event planners and delegates experiencing it for themselves.”
