Owner and long-time CEO of Lateral Event Management Simon Baggs will become chair of the business and scale back to four days a week from January 2023, vacating the top operational role for current GM Megan Peters.

Baggs has also gifted half of the business to his senior leadership team, including Jette Baggs Sargood, head of people and relationships, Isabelle Cherry, head of premium events, Caroline Didier, tour manager and senior event producer and Markus Baggs Sargood, non-executive director, as well as to Peters, the new CEO.

The news was announced at a lunch hosted by Lateral this week at Bennelong at Sydney Opera House.

Commenting on the new era for Lateral, Baggs was pleased and proud of his team.

“Since Lateral’s inception 25 years ago, the company has become something of a powerhouse in premium events, business events and intellectual entertainment theatre tours,” he said.

“I am so proud of the team that has delivered 140 live events attended by 99,200 people across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Japan this year, as we get back off the floor after the pandemic.

“I am so pleased that our core team will now be directors and shareholders, that they will own the company that they have worked so hard to make a success.

“Lateral’s future looks very bright, with a very busy 2023 and significant contracts and tours in place right through to 2026,” said Baggs.

“I would like to thank our clients, some of them who have been with us for more than twenty years, for the faith they place in us, for the challenges [they] bring us and camaraderie we enjoy with them,” said Baggs.
