CHINA Imperial Palace-inspired Shangri-La Hotel, Shenyang will open on August 1, ready to host sporting professionals during the 12th China National Sports Games held in the city in September.

The hotel will emulate the heritage of Shenyang and the grandeur of the Shenyang Imperial Palace throughout the lobby and represented in several forms, including marble floors with rose petal etchings and patterns from an emperor’s robe woven into area carpets.

424-room Shangri-La, Shenyang will offer 4026 square metres of meeting space, including a 1900-square metre pillar-less ballroom with a 600-square metre pre-function area, a 566-square metre ballroom and seven function rooms.

One of the function rooms will also boast a 3015-square metre rooftop garden for alfresco receptions.

Its Summer Palace specialising in Cantonese and Liaoning cuisine comprises 13 private dining rooms with garden views for VIP and corporate events.

The property will include signature Horizon Club guestrooms and privileges, a specialty restaurant and bar, all-day dining restaurant, a spa, rooftop tennis court, and 25-metre indoor heated swimming pool.

Located on Qingnian Avenue in Shenhe District, it is 30 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes to the city’s two major train stations.

Shenyang contains the only other existing royal palace in mainland China after the Forbidden City in Beijing.
