QT Newcastle has opened its doors today in the New South Wales regional centre, just over two hours’ drive north of Sydney.

The 104-room hotel has opened in the 113-year-old heritage-listed former David Jones building in the centre of Newcastle and a short distance from the beachfront.

The property will include the signature Rooftop at QT, which offers a bar with an extensive cocktail collection and a healthy spirits and local wine list as well as uninterrupted views over Newcastle Harbour and doubles as a mid-week event space for up to 100 people standing.

The hotel’s restaurant, headed up by an executive chef with Michelin starred experience, has an entirely local steak offering and a private dining room for 12 people.

“QT Newcastle is the latest evolution in the QT collection, and we’re thrilled to open the doors,” said QT Hotels & Resorts Group General Manager, Callum Kennedy.

“QT Newcastle will live and breathe the same vibrancy and energy guests love from the world of QT, championing luxurious quirk and exciting collaborations in the Newcastle community.

“We are also delighted to have recruited a team of local talent that we welcome to the QT family.”

This is the second luxury hotel to open in Newcastle in so many years, with Crystalbrook Collection opening the town’s first five-star property in 2021, the 130-room Crystalbrook Kingsley, which also comes with two small meeting spaces.
