Regional NSW destinations are getting up to speed with gusto on the business event sector, with plenty on offer for the groups market.
Port Stephens on the NSW north coast, about three hours from the Sydney CBD, has been a quiet achiever in the business event sector for many years, welcoming an ever-increasing number of groups to its high-quality resorts.
To demonstrate its interest and understanding of the business event market it recently launched a series of new itineraries specifically for groups.
Launched by MICE Port Stephens, the two and three day itineraries show planners what is available “beyond the boardroom” and right on the doorstep of this popular waterside playground.
Charters on luxury yachts, sunset cruises, seafood feasts, parasailing, and quad biking on Australia’s largest sand dune, are just some of the options highlighted.
They have been devised to give corporate meetings groups a mix of inspired work and what MICE Port Stephens says is “fresh air” play options in and around the blue water wonderland of Port Stephens.
“Our suggested itineraries in Port Stephens are designed as an antidote from the hustle and bustle of city distractions so delegates and their companies can gain fresh perspectives and clarity in a natural, uncluttered seaside setting,” explains MICE Port Stephens manager, Rebecca Morley.
“Combining soft adventure, indulgence and relaxation as well as focused productivity, our recommended schedules aim to foster inspiration, high morale and strong team bonding, using the deluxe, beachside accommodation, state-of-the-art conference facilities and relaxed ambience Port Stephens can offer.”
The new two-day ‘Sails Meeting’ itinerary sees delegates travel to the beachside region aboard a five-star coach with Port Stephens Coaches for a welcome lunch and boutique beer tastings at Murray’s Brewery. After checking into their accommodation, delegates then enjoy a sunset cocktail cruise with Imagine Cruises before dinner at one of the many outstanding local restaurants and live entertainment at Wests Diggers. A ‘brain-starter’ walk up Tomaree Head the next day before breakfast is followed by conference sessions and a mid-afternoon, team-building adrenalin ride with Quad Bike King over the highest sand dunes in the southern hemisphere.
The three-day ‘Unconventional Convention’ itinerary for delegates, partners and children starts with an afternoon tour of the huge Stockton Sand Dunes with Port Stephens 4WD Tours, followed by a dinner cruise with Moonshadow Cruises on the dolphin-filled waters of Port Stephens.
After an early morning yoga session on the beach to greet the dawn, delegates get down to business while partners enjoy a deluxe yacht cruise with Blue Water Sailing and children check into organised kids’ club activities such as ten pin bowling at Superstrike and parasailing with Port Stephens Watersports.
Delegates can experience relaxing head, back and neck massages at morning tea while partners enjoy full massages and facials at local spa sanctuaries. After a sumptuous lunch featuring local seafood, delegates and families regroup late in the afternoon for a four-wheel-drive transfer back to the massive dunes for a memorable ‘Arabian Nights’ themed dinner, with fancy dress recommended! After more conference sessions on day three and a farewell lunch, groups return home aboard their deluxe coach relaxed and recharged.
Accommodation options for delegates range from the four-and-a-half star Shoal Bay Resort & Spa and The Anchorage Port Stephens to three and four-star options such as Ibis Styles Salamander Shores and The Nelson Resort & Conference Centre. Serviced apartments are available from Port Stephens Accommodation and Winning Holidays while value-priced holiday park accommodation is available from One Mile Beach Holiday Park and Port Stephens Beachside Holiday Parks. m
