Funding for community, mass participation and major events and for new event development has opened today through the Northern Territory Major Events Company.

Grants of $30,000 to $40,000 are available for community and mass participation events, while funding of up to $100,000 is available for the development of new events – either single or on-going annual occasions – which bring interstate event audiences to the territory.

Those wishing to apply for finance for a major event must submit an expression of interest (EOI) by September 12 and potential funding candidates will be invited to submit full applications by the Northern Territory Major Events Company.

Applications for the other three categories are open until September 23 for events taking place between March 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024.

Business events are ineligible to apply as are events which are dependant on receiving the funding to go ahead. Applicants must either be Northern Territory businesses or organisations or have a demonstrated link to a Northern Territory organisation.

“The Territory is home to so many unique events, and the Event Funding Program helps established events grow and develop, while also providing the support needed for new events to get off the ground,” said the NT’s minister for major events Paul Kirby.

“The program also helps lengthen the Territory’s events calendar by incentivising events to be held in those traditionally quieter seasons and ultimately increasing the benefits to our economy throughout the year.

“Whether you’ve been running events in the Territory for years or are looking at staging a brand new event, this is the perfect opportunity to apply for support,” said Kirby.

Funding applications and EOIs and detailed eligibility can be accessed via the Northern Territory Major Events Company website.
