The MCEC’s free public event, Open Space, was a resounding success, with more then 600 attending.

Simon Hammond and his rock band kicked off the event in MCEC’s Plenary with an inspiring session that communicated the value of connecting with people on a personal level in business.
Following the session Mr Hammond interviewed some stalwarts of Australian industry on the community connection, education opportunities and culture developed by hosting business events. The panel included AusBiotech chief operations officer, Glenn Cross; AFL chief executive, Andrew Demetriou; Cisco Asia Pacific area vice president, Les Williamson and VECCI chief executive, Mark Stone.
Open Space was concluded with a hawker-style food market set on a real grass courtyard in MCEC’s foyer.

MCEC chief executive, Peter King, reflected that business events are not only important to the economy but the wider community and Open Space was a great opportunity to show off what we do so Melburnians can embrace MCEC as their home to learn, share, connect and be entertained.
